Fabric and Craft

Woven in Gaji satin silk, a smooth, lustrous cloth long used in Gujarat for bandhani work. The pattern is made by bandej — the fabric is pinched and tied into thousands of tiny points before dyeing, so each dot is resist-dyed by hand rather than printed. Mirror work is added over the dyed ground, catching light against the satin.
